Local tradesman Tim Scheutz wins MyJobQuote competition

The winner of the MyJobQuote tool kit competition has been announced with Tim Scheutz, a plumbing and heating contractor from Cambridge, taking home £250 worth of tools and equipment.

Tim’s tool kit included a DeWalt drill set, a Pro Dry Core Case and Holesaw set.

Tim was delighted by the news, saying of the win:

“It was the perfect surprise when I found out I’d won the MyJobQuote Tradesman competition. Winning the tool kits is one thing, but having recently joined the platform to take part, I’ve been blown away by the amount of job offers I’ve received.

He went on to discuss the results he’d seen from joining the online job quote platform, which he’d only recently signed up for, inspired by the competition;

“I’d say I’ve received around £40,000 in job offers in just 4 weeks. I would highly recommend the service to others.”

MyJobQuote had this to say on Tim’s surprise win, and his subsequent trade success;

‘The team would like to give a big congratulations to Tim for winning our recent competition, we’re ecstatic to hear he’s won so many jobs through our platform myjobquote.co.uk already.’

The company itself partnered with the Southern Football League to launch the competition in early March, with the aim of further supporting and representing local business across the Southern League area.

Since beginning as a small start-up in 2013, the MyJobQuote platform has continued to serve and connect over 30,000 tradespeople and 1 million homeowners nationwide.

The marketing company proudly promotes the power of small and local trade, and provides a free, secure, and valuable platform for both business owners and clients.

If you’d like to sign up to the website, here is the link to their page: https://www.myjobquote.co.uk/tradespeople-signup

Jess Guthrie leaves the club

We are sad to report that physio Jess has had to make the difficult decision to step away from her role as club physio.

Due to work commitments Jess will no longer be able to work with the first team or scholars and we all wish her every success going forward and hope to see her at Westwood Road soon.

Pete Branch 1947 – 2021

Pete Branch   1947 – 2021

It is with great sadness that club has to advise you of the passing of Pete Branch.  Pete has been a supporter of St Ives Town FC for over 30 years.  In the early days when 20 was a massive crowd, he would often take around a box to collect gate money for the reserves.

Pete was a passionate Ipswich Town fan and In his younger days he played for Brantham Athletic FC and then later had a couple of games for Fenstanton FC.

He was a lover of good football by either side and would travel away with the first team from Great Yarmouth in one direction to Poole in the other.

He had time and encouragement for everyone and latterly helped with our budding little players on Saturday mornings. His support for the club continued even when he became unwell.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Julie and his children Stewart and Keren.

ST IVES TOWN FC – UNDER 14 2021/22 SEASON

St Ives Town FC recently announced major investment in a new state of the art 3G playing surface at Westwood Road which will be ready for the start of the 2021 / 22 season.

Alongside this exciting project the club is expanding its Youth Development programme and will be introducing an Under 14 team for the upcoming season.

The new team will play in the Eastern Junior Alliance which is the most competitive league in the Eastern Region and sits between Academy and County League Football. The team will be run by two fully qualified coaches with good experience and knowledge at this level of youth football.

With a renewed focus on the development of young, talented local players  this is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the highest ranked clubs (Outside Professional football) in East Anglia.

There is the opportunity for progression into the very popular and expanding Scholarship programme, along with a genuine opportunity to follow recent players on a pathway into the 1st team.

State of the Art 3G pitch coming to Westwood Road

St Ives Town FC are delighted to announce that contracts have been signed for the installation of a state of the art 3G pitch at Westwood Road. It will consist of a 50mm 3G monofilament carpet suitable for elite football and certified to FIFA Quality Pro accreditations.

The club is grateful to have had the full support of Huntingdonshire FA and Huntingdon District Council.

This self-funded project has been helped by a grant for new LED floodlights, pitch perimeter fencing and equipment from the Football Stadium Improvement Fund and support from Mick George Ltd.

A high density performance shock pad, tested to FIFA Quality Pro, will be installed under the grass carpet; this will increase the life expectancy of the pitch ensuring it plays better and lasts longer. The shock pad will also improve overall performance and reduce the risk of injuries. Shock pads are also hugely important to meet various sporting code regulations.

The project will also see the installation of a new double beam mesh fencing with hot dip galvanised powder coating.

Work is scheduled to commence on Monday 22nd March 2021 and is expected to take approximately 10 weeks, it should be ready for pre-season training.

This exciting scheme will contribute significantly to the development of sport and community activity in St Ives by facilitating a range of year-round activities unaffected by the weather. The first-class playing surface will help to grow and develop grassroots football and improve the health and physical activity of residents in the town and surrounding villages.
