Match Preview: Ives v Halesowen

St Ives Town continue with their league programme on Saturday when they welcome Halesowen Town to the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road.

The match comes hot on the heels of a 1-0 victoy at Coalville on Tuesday night, a win that saw the Ives stretch their unbeaten run to four in all competitions.  Victories against Royston, Marine, Eaton Socon and Coalville have given the team a new sense of belief that they are beginning to turn the corner after a difficult first few months of the season.

IVES TEAM NEWS

The Ives will have to be at their very best if they are going to continue their decent run of form as they come up against a Halesowen side who have made an excellent start to the season following their promotion from the Northern Premier League Midlands last year.  The team news for the Ives is that Peter Abimbola has been recalled to Northampton after being on loan from the Cobblers for the last few weeks.  Johnny Herd is still recovering from injury, and the squad will also feature new signings Ben Mensah and Sam Tessler.

INTRODUCING HALESOWEN

Depsite Halesowen having a decent first few months of the season, they arrive at the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road in the midst of a wobble in form having won only once out of their last five league outings.  That came against AFC Sudbury on 14 October.  In recent times, they have been knocked out of the FA Trophy by Macclesfield and on Tuesday evening lost 2-1 to Nuneaton.  It wasn’t so long ago that the Yeltz were second, but have now slipped to eigth and will be keen to get maximum points to stay in and around the top six.

ONE TO WATCH

Richard Gregory.  The striker netted his 50th goal for the Yeltz against Nuneaton in midweek, and will be one to look out for.  Also keep an eye out for Miracle Okafor.  The former Sporting Khalsa player has scored several times already this season and will be a target man for the visitors should he be in the squad.

ST IVES TOWN REMEMBERS

As it is remembrance weekend, the club will be paying its respects before kick-off.  There will be representation from the Royal British Legion and a bugler will play the last post.  This will be followed by a minutes silence.
