Match Preview: Stratford v St Ives

St Ives Town head to Stratford on Saturday as they look for only their second league win of the season.

You have to go back to the Nuneaton game in August for when the Ives last won in the league. Since then, there has been more than one occasion where they could have collected maximum points together with a number of frustrations where they have been in a decent position, but unable to see the game out. One such occasion was last Saturday when they failed to see off a 10 man Bromsgrove team only to be stung by an injury time winner for the opposition.

IVES TEAM NEWS

So it’s points the Ives need and how they would love to collect a maximum return from the visit to Stratford and home game against Royston on Monday night. The good news in terms of playing personnel is that both Myles Cowling and Paddy Casey look set to return to the squad after missing last week with injury. Johnny Herd remains sidelined for several more weeks including the Isuzu FA Trophy tie at home to Marine next Saturday.

INTRODUCING STRATFORD

The Ives take on a Stratford side who haven’t won in the league since 12 September when they recorded a 4-2 win over Stamford. Since then, they have experienced league defeats against Halesowen, Nuneaton and AFC Telford United. In between all of that, they recorded a 1-0 victory against Basford in the Isuzu FA Trophy. Nicknamed the Bards, they currently sit 15th in the table with 13 points.
