Match Preview: Stamford v Ives

The new year starts for St Ives Town with a trip to Stamford.

INTRODUCING STAMFORD

The hosts nicknamed ‘The Dannies’ have made an impressive return to step 3 football following their promotion from the Northern Premier League Midlands at the end of last season.  However, they go into the game on New Years Day in mixed form having won once in their last three matches which was a 4-0 win at home to Mickleover on 19 December.  Before then, they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Berkhamsted and this was followed by the same score against Bromsgrove Sporting on 23 December.  They had no game on Boxing Day.  Stamford currently sit sixth in the table, two points off the play-offs.

IVES TEAM NEWS

The Ives make the trip after returning to winning ways courtesy of a 6-0 Boxing Day hammering of Kettering Town.  The win moved the Ives up to 15th in the table, four points clear of the relegation zone.  Michael Richens will be suspended for the trip to Lincolnshire but boss Ricky Marheineke has a full compliment to choose from otherwise.
