Match Preview: Ives v AFC Telford United

Seven days after being knocked out of the FA Cup at Leiston, St Ives Town resume their league programme tomorrow with a home game against AFC Telford United.

The Ives go into the game looking for their first home win of the season. Their last home league game was against another team who were relegated from the National League North, Leamington. That match finished in a narrow 1-0 defeat. The Ives followed that up with a 1-1 draw at Kettering on Bank Holiday Monday. In that match, the Ives looked liked they were on course for a valuable three points only to be undone with the last kick of the game.

IVES TEAM NEWS

Johnny Edwards and Myles Cowling have been missing since the start of the season, and continue to get closer to fitness. Brandon Njoku will continue to lead the line for the Ives whilst defender Jordan Williams looks set to start after missing out on a place in the starting line-up at Leiston last week. Elsewhere, Dan Barton should start once more after returning to full fitness in recent games.

INTRODUCING AFC TELFORD UNITED

AFC Telford United arrive at the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road currently sitting in 11th position in the table. Like the Ives, Telford were knocked out of the FA Cup last week as Coalville Town progressed at their expense. The Bucks were relegated from the National League North last season, and haven’t found it easy in their new surrounds with just two wins from their opening six league games. Those wins came against Royston on the opening day and a 7-0 hammering of Nuneaton.

STAR MAN

Look out for Montel Gibson. The former Ilkeston, Grimsby and Halesowen striker has five goals to his name so far this season including two in the 7-0 drubbing of Nuneaton.

HAPPY HOUR

A reminder that there is a special drinks promotion at the club tomorrow. From 1:00pm – 2:30pm all pints in the clubhouse will be priced at £3.00. Hot food will also be available.
