Match Preview – Bedford Town v The Ives

St Ives Town head to Bedford on Saturday looking to collect a valuable three points.

The Ives travel in the midst of some poor league form that has seen them only win once out of their last six league outings.  That came at Ilkeston on 4 October.

Last week, the Ives were beaten 2-1 by Nuneaton Borough at the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road.  The home side were two goals down inside the first 20 minutes and despite a late rally slipped to defeat.  The result leaves the Ives 14th in the league table, a place behind Bedford with three games in hand.

THE OPPONENTS

Bedford gained promotion back into step three this season, and had an indifferent start to the campaign which included an 8-1 reverse at home to current league leaders Tamworth.  But in recent times they have secured some decent results including victories last month against Rushall Olympic and Coalville.  However, since the Coalville victory they have only secured one point in their last four outings.  That was a 0-0 draw at Needham Market on 29 October.  In their last outing on Tuesday night, they lost 3-1 at Basford United.

STAR MAN

Look out for striker Afolabi Soyemi-Ololade.  The 22 year old forward signed for the Eagles last month after starting the season with Hashtag United.  He also lists Hayes & Yeading, Leatherhead and Romford among his former clubs.  He has aleady bagged two goals for the Eagles since arriving at Bedford and was on the scoresheet in their midweek defeat at Basford.
