Striker signs for the Ives

On the eve of the new season we are delighted to announce the signing of centre forward Ezra Forde.

The 20 year old forward has featured during our last 3 pre season fixtures and has earned himself a place within the squad with some impressive, hard working performances.

Ezra was at Hitchin Town last season making 48 appearances and scoring 9 goals. Ezra joined the Canaries from Oxford City the previous year where he made over 35 appearances, scoring a hand full of goals at step 2 in the Vanarama Conference South.

Please join me in welcoming Ezra to the club and we wish you every success during your time at the club.

After 8 pre-season games we begin our league campaign hosting Tamworth at WWR.

This fixture is very much a case of deja-vu as this was the opening fixture last season with the Ives running out 1-0 winners. Manashe Sundire scored with a long range effort in the second half.

Ives manager Ricky Marheineke has a full squad to choose from, although Andrew Osei-Bonsu faces late fitness test for selection.

Although Tamworth struggled to adapt in the first half of the season to life at step 3, they finished the campaign very strongly in 12th place, one above the Ives. If they can continue in that vein of form, they will be a strong fancy for at least a play off place this season.

Young defender Johnson joins the Ives

We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Charlie Johnson.

Charlie, 18 was released by league 2 club Cambridge United in the summer after spending many years coming through their excellent youth system. Johnson also spent the last couple of months of last season on work experience with Yaxley FC in the Southern League Central where he helped them to pull away from the bottom of the table and finish the season strongly.

After impressing during the first few weeks of pre season Charlie has been offered a place in the squad and will get the opportunity to step up a level where the manager has every confidence he will continue his development and help the team.

Welcome to the club Charlie and we wish you all the best of luck during your time with us.

Jack Snelus arrives at Westwood Road

The club are this evening delighted to announce the signing of Jack Snelus.

The former Luton Town player is an exciting attacking midfielder. Jack spent last season at Hemel Hempstead in the conference south.

After joining the squad Thursday night, Jack was one of the stand out performers in today’s excellent performance in our very unlucky defeat to Enfield Town.

Please join me in welcoming Jack to the club and we hope your time with us is both an enjoyable and successful experience.

With both teams having won their previous fixtures in this competition, this final group game is effectively a semi-final as if it’s a draw after 90 minutes there will be a penalty shootout for a bonus point which will take the victors into the final.

On the squad front – Jake Newman and Charlie De’Ath are still unavailable. Josh Dawkin is also away and won’t feature. Ollie Snaith is a doubt after picking up a knee injury in Tuesdays pre season fixture at Wellingborough Town. Charlie Johnson came through training last night and is likely to be fit after he picked up an ankle injury in the same fixture. Dylan Wilson returns.

Hunts FA award for Dave Misseldine & Gareth Chapman

Dave Misseldine & Gareth Chapman of St Ives Town FC have been awarded the Grounds Team of the Year Award which from the Hunts FA.

Gareth and Dave have put in a lot of work on a pitch that has been notorious over the years, however not a single 1st team game was called off due to bad weather last season and that is down to these guys.

It is an award that is well earned and very much deserved.

They are not resting on their laurels however as work has already started on the pitch including being verti drained, drill seeded and 40 tonnes of sand laid.

Click Here for the Hunts FA full list of winners.

The Ladies Development side have their destiny in their own hands as they beat current leaders Haverhill Rovers in an exciting 3-2 win at the New Croft in the Cambs Championship South. The Ives goals came from Sophie Crook, Fran Worrall & Caitlin McGeown.

As it stands they require 7 points from their last 3 games to clinch the title as Haverhill have a vastly superior goal difference.

They are at home to Cambridge Rangers tomorrow (Wednesday 18:30 k.o) and finish the season this coming Sunday with a double header (two x 60 minute games) at home to Park Ladies. (First game k.o 14:00). All the games are being played at the St Ivo Outdoor Centre and they would love your support as they aim for the Cambs Championship South crown.
