The Ives take a break from the league as we welcome Soham Town Rangers to WWR in a FA Trophy fixture.

This is the first competitive game between the two sides in over six years when we last met in a FA Cup fixture at WWR. The Ives were 3-1 victors on the day.

Soham play in the Isthmian North Division and currently sit in 8th place with 12 points from 8 games. Being a step 4 side they played in the preliminary round of this competition and came away with an excellent 3-0 victory over current North Division leaders Bury Town.

On the squad front, The injury crisis is starting to look better and there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel. Ben Jackson, Charlie De’Ath, Mark Coulson, Ollie Snaith, Dan Clifton, George Bailey and Jack Snelus all remain sidelined. Most look like they could return in the next 7-10 days. Danny Kelly, Ty Ward and Dylan Wilson will be assessed before kick off. Captain Robbie Parker trained last night for the first time in two weeks but is still a doubt. The manager hopes to add a couple of new faces to the squad but it’s all dependant on paperwork being completed by lunch time today.

Dylan Wilson joins Cogenhoe on a dual registration

We can confirm that Dylan Wilson has signed on a dual registration with United Counties Premier League side Cogenhoe for a month.

The young striker suffered a broken ankle during our home league fixture with Lowerstoft at Christmas and subsequently missed the remainder of the season. Dylan has since missed most of pre season and game time has been limited as a result. The management team have decided joining Cogenhoe for a month is the best pathway for Dylan to gain some valuable minutes before looking to join back up with the squad in October.

We all wish both Dylan and Cogenhoe a successful month and look forward to seeing him back in an Ives shirt soon.

Sunday Round Up – 8th September

Although The Ladies 1st team suffered a fourth straight defeat losing 2-1 at home to Royston Town in the ERWFL Premier, Ladies manager Darren Marjoram was buoyed by the performance. He said “We might not have won but nobody can argue that it was a good performance from the Ladies today. Every single player put a great shift in, and their response to the previous week was outstanding. I couldn’t ask for any more from them. That gives us something to build on.”

Tierney Coulson scored the Ives goal. Mollie Flack was the Ives ‘Player of the Match’ as chosen by Royston.

The Ladies Development team got off to a winning start in the Cambs Premier with a 3-1 victory at Riverside Ladies. Development Manager James Seymour said “Well done to the Ladies devs who came away with a solid 3-1 win away at Riverside. We dominated possession and created some great chances. We could’ve had a few more if it wasn’t for their keeper making some excellent saves. Looking forward for what the season brings.”

The Development goalscorers – Jade Carpenter (x2) & Steph Ransome. Ellen Bullin was awarded ‘Player of the Match’.

EJA LEAGUE

The U16’s came from a goal down at half time to beat Potters Bar Town to win 3-1 in the Brown Division.

According to the U14’s manager Ed Shepherd it was “A fantastic performance on the opening day of the season to secure a 4-0 win over Biggleswade Town.”

George Claxon, Panashe Masviporwa (x2) & Cieron Spencer-Rosborough were the goalscorers in this Yellow Division match.

The U13’s lost 5-1 at Biggleswade Town in the Yellow division.
