Match Preview: Ives v Berkhamsted

St Ives Town return to home league action this Saturday as they welcome Berkhamsted to the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road.

IVES TEAM NEWS

The Ives have not played at home on a Saturday since 24 February when they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Stratford Town.  They have played on a Monday night since when they also lost to Coalville but sandwiched between that there have been wins at Royston and Alvechurch and a point last week at Long Eaton.  In that game, the Ives had to settle for a point coming from 3-1 down to secure a 3-3 draw.  The point at Long Eaton left the Ives 12th in the table and a win tomorrow could push them up into the top ten.

INTRODUCING BERKHAMSTED

On Saturday, the Ives face a Berkhamsted side who have won only twice all season, the second of those coming last week when they recorded victory over Bromsgrove Sporting.  Given that last Saturday was only their second victory of the season, Berkhamsted have found it hard going following their promotion last season and currently sit bottom of the league on 17 points with relegation looking inevitable.  That said in recent weeks the Comrades have taken a point off opponents or lost narrowly with a 3-2 defeat at leaders Needham Market on 10 February being an example.

REVERSE FIXTURE

It was back on 25 November when the teams met for the first time this season and the Ives secured a 2-0 victory courtesy of two goals from Jonny Edwards.
