The Ives to partner up with The Posh for 2021/22

St. Ives Town Football Club have agreed with Peterborough United to become a partner club for the 2021-2022 campaign.

From The Posh Website – 

Posh are looking to build strong and lasting relationships with local football clubs. The idea of the partnership is to establish a successful link and pathway with outstanding local grass root clubs. This partnership will have positive benefits for both clubs, providing opportunities for players and staff members at partner clubs, through integration with our network of highly qualified coaches and our sport science team.

Posh Academy Head of Recruitment Sam Gaughran said:  “We are really excited that St Ives Town FC have agreed to become a Partner Club for the 2021/2022 season. St Ives are a forward-thinking club that do great work in the community helping players develop and enjoy their football. Peterborough United will be working closely with St Ives to help develop their players and coaches and building a long lasting positive relationship.”

Paul Everest, St Ives Town Youth Development Manager, said “We are really pleased to partner up with Peterborough United. This is something the club has spoken about for a while and really happy that is finally over the line. We are looking forward to working closely with Peterborough United to help develop our teams and coaches and this is important step to help develop the club.”

U12 Player Trials – 16th, 23rd & 27th June

St. Ives Town FC U12 2021/2022 Season

St. Ives Town FC recently announced major investment in a new state of the art 3G playing surface at Westwood Road, which will be ready for the start of the 2021/22 season. Alongside this exciting project the club are expanding its Youth Development programme.

We are delighted to announce that we are hosting a three trial events for this successful squad in preparation for the 2021-2022 season. The team play in the Peterborough Junior Alliance League but are preparing to enter the Eastern Junior Alliance league at U13’s, which many see as the most competitive league in the Eastern Region and sits between Academy and County League Football. 

Stage 1 & 2 will be training sessions with the third stage being a trial match.

If your child will be in school year 7 for the 2021-2022 academic year and is looking for an exciting opportunity to develop and enjoy new facilities, please find below the details of how you can register your interest and for further information**. 

Wednesday 16th June 2021 

Time: 16:45hrs arrival – 18:00hrs finish

St Ives Town FC recently announced major investment in a new state of the art 3G playing surface at Westwood Road which will be ready for the start of the 2021 / 22 season.

With a renewed focus on the development of young, talented local players  this is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the highest ranked clubs (Outside Professional football) in East Anglia. 

There is the opportunity for progression into the very popular and expanding Scholarship programme, along with a genuine opportunity to follow recent players on a pathway into the 1st team.

Weekend Round Up 12 & 13 October

The Reserves bowed out of the Hunts Junior Cup on Saturday, losing 1-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes against fellow Cambs 1B side Fenstanton.

The Ladies 1st team made it 7 points from 3 games with a 3-1 victory at Haringey Borough in the ERWFL Premier. Tierney Coulson, Hannah Seymour-Shove & Georgia Stancombe scored a goal a piece.

Manager Darren Marjoram said “What a great 3-1 away win for the Ladies today against Haringey. For us to have responded from a poor start to the season, and now have 7 points from our last 3 games shows the character this group of players have. Couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The Ladies Development side suffered 4-2 reverse at Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds  in the Cambs Prem.

The U16’s had a busy weekend with an emphatic 16-0 victory at St Ives Rangers on the Saturday, following up with a 4-0 win over Cambridge City in the EJA Brown Division to lift them to 2nd place in the table.

The U15’s lost 0-7 at home to Wroxham in the EJA League Challenge Cup.

The U14’s enjoyed a 2-1 victory at home to Stotfold in the EJA Yellow Division to leap frog them to top the table. Manager Ed Shepherd said “It was a great performance against the league leaders in difficult conditions. The goals came from Ceilidh’s Rosborough & George Shepherd.”

Sunday Round Up – 8th September

Although The Ladies 1st team suffered a fourth straight defeat losing 2-1 at home to Royston Town in the ERWFL Premier, Ladies manager Darren Marjoram was buoyed by the performance. He said “We might not have won but nobody can argue that it was a good performance from the Ladies today. Every single player put a great shift in, and their response to the previous week was outstanding. I couldn’t ask for any more from them. That gives us something to build on.”

Tierney Coulson scored the Ives goal. Mollie Flack was the Ives ‘Player of the Match’ as chosen by Royston.

The Ladies Development team got off to a winning start in the Cambs Premier with a 3-1 victory at Riverside Ladies. Development Manager James Seymour said “Well done to the Ladies devs who came away with a solid 3-1 win away at Riverside. We dominated possession and created some great chances. We could’ve had a few more if it wasn’t for their keeper making some excellent saves. Looking forward for what the season brings.”

The Development goalscorers – Jade Carpenter (x2) & Steph Ransome. Ellen Bullin was awarded ‘Player of the Match’.

EJA LEAGUE

The U16’s came from a goal down at half time to beat Potters Bar Town to win 3-1 in the Brown Division.

According to the U14’s manager Ed Shepherd it was “A fantastic performance on the opening day of the season to secure a 4-0 win over Biggleswade Town.”

George Claxon, Panashe Masviporwa (x2) & Cieron Spencer-Rosborough were the goalscorers in this Yellow Division match.

The U13’s lost 5-1 at Biggleswade Town in the Yellow division.

The Ladies Development side fell short in the Cambs 1st Division Cup Final played at Ely City with a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Wisbech Town.

Amazing achievement for the Ladies Dev team to be reaching a cup final just two years after forming! Gutted to lose of course but Wisbech Town Ladies were the better team. So proud of every player tonight – they never stopped trying – and Manager Lisa Trigg who is simply class

Sunday 14 April

The Ladies Development side dusted themselves off less than 48 hours after the disappointment of the Cup Final defeat to claim a 3-2 victory at WWR over Cambridge Rangers in the Cambs Championship South Division.

Ladies 1st team manager Darren Marjoram said –

Fantastic performance today from the Ladies Dev team. Really good to see them play some excellent passing football and create so many goal scoring opportunities. It’s always so rewarding to see players trusting the process and getting the result they deserve.

The U15’s won 3-1 against Haverhill Rovers in their final home game of the season to guarantee themselves the runners up spot in the EJA Green Division.

Their management said –

A fantastic game played with power, skill and commitment by both teams with St Ives winning 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Harry and securing 2nd place in the League! Amazing achievement by all!

The Ladies kept up their title challenge in the ERWFL D1 with a late winner to seal a 2-1 victory at Lawford Ladies.

Ladies manager Darren Marjoram said –

Definitely not the best performance from the Ladies today, but fair play to Lawford who put in an excellent performance. Good teams never give up and that’s exactly what this bunch did today to get a 2-1 win in injury time! Superb togetherness from everyone in the squad.

Another great performance from the U13s,  2 goals from George Claxton and 1 each for Tom Barratt and George Shepherd resulting in a Comfortable 4-0 win, finishing the Season Strongly still unbeaten in the League and progressing into the quarter finals of the Subsidiary Cup.

The Ladies first team remain on course for the ERWFL Division 1 title courtesy of a 1-0 win at Stevenage Ladies Reserves.

Ladies manager Darren Marjoram said –

A fantastic away win for the Ladies and another clean sheet! Never have I seen a group who are prepared to work so hard for each other to get a result. Today’s goal scorer was Emily Smith (sponsored by Gary Reed Photography) and player of the match voted by Stevenage was Tierney Coulson (sponsored by Tim Schuetz Plumbing & Heating Ltd). Got to give masses of credit to every single player today though as they all played their part. I couldn’t be happier!

The U16’s lost 1-6 at Stotfold in the EJA Brown Division.

The U15’s were beaten 2-8 at Billericay in the Challenge Cup semi-final.

The U15’s management said –

Our boys fought, chased, tackled and played their hearts out but were simply beaten by undoubtedly the best team in the EJA…sometimes it’s just not your day. On to the league!!!

The U13’s have guaranteed themselves the runners up spot at the very minimum in the Royston Crow League Division 1 with a 3-0 win at home to Manuden Juniors.

They are on level points with BSC FC with 1 game each left to play. If they finish the season on the same amount of points, there will then be a play off game to determine who wins the league.

The Ladies Development side reached the final of the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Division One Cup with a 3-1 win at home to Burwell Tigers. The goals came from Jade Carpenter x 2 & Fran Worrell. Jade Carpenter was also awarded ‘Player of the Match’. They will now play Wisbech Town in the Final. Date & venue are yet to be determined.

The U16 enjoyed a 2-0 victory at Kempston Rovers in the EJA Brown Division.

The U14 lost 1-5 at home to Bury Town in the EJA Green Division.

The U13 progressed to the next round of the Subsidiary Cup with a 5-2 win at FC Comets – Hitchin Kaisers.

Monday 11 March

The U18 narrowly lost 1-2 to Peterborough Sports in the TNYL West Division.

Sunday 3 March

The Ladies 1st team bowed out of the Quarter Final stage of the ERWFL League Cup with a 0-1 defeat at WWR at the hands of Premiership Bedford Ladies.

The Ladies Development side stay in the mix at the top of the Cambs Championship South following a 3-1 victory at Isleham United Ladies. The goals came from Jade Carpenter, Connie liddiard & Kirsty Wicks.

The U15 advanced to the semi-finals of the EJA League  Challenger Cup with a 4-2 win at Takeley. A fantastic team display full of heart, passion and pure hard work, Goals came from Alfie, Harry, Reece and George (yes the goalkeeper).

The U14 lost 2-4 at Cambridge City in the EJA Green Division.

The U13 drew 1-1 at Baldock Town Templars in the U13 Royston Crow League Division 1.

Monday 4 March

The U18 were desperately unlucky to come away with nothing from their TNYL game with a 1-2 defeat against King’s Lynn at WWR. A late penalty for the young Linnets was enough to take all 3 points back too Norfolk.
