Match Preview – Royston Town v St Ives Town

The Ives head into to this Bank Holiday fixture on the back of a well earned point against Needham Market having played for more than an hour with 10 men.

Royston got their first win of the league campaign on Saturday with an excellent 3-0 victory at Rushall Olympic

We welcome Needham Market to WWR tomorrow for the first time in over 10 years. Their last visit in Feb 2008 was an exciting 3-3 draw in the 5th round of the FA Vase.

Both sides have had a similar start to the season by winning the first 2 games, but losing last Saturday. Needham Market do, however, have a superior goal difference.

On the squad front, only Danny Moyes is unavailable due to work commitments.

The club has made the decision that the match day programme will be online only this season. (Click here to view / download it). There will however be a 4 page ‘mini programme’ available within the ground on the day of the game for 30p.

Formed in 1887, St Ives Town FC certainly has a rich history, winning the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup a number of times, reaching the final in the Premier Cup two years running in the 1990s and achieving promotion to Step 3 of the football pyramid in 2016 where the club remains today. St Ives Town have also developed their Ladies team who continue to progress from strength to strength.

Match Preview & Squad Details – Redditch United v St Ives Town

The Ives head to Worcestershire on the back of the excellent 1-0 victory at Lowestoft Town on Tuesday.

We have no new injury concerns following the first week of the season.

We have signed Jack O’Connor on loan from Kettering Town and subject to paperwork Jack could be available to join the squad for tomorrows game.

There is a coach available for the game leaving Westwood Road at 11:00. £10 per person.

Two go out on dual registration

The club can confirm that Jamie Short and Lloyd Groves have both signed dual registrations with March Town and Soham Town Rangers respectively.

With Jamie and Lloyd in need of minutes following the first week of the season, Manager Ricky Marheineke has allowed both to sign dual registration to get some game time and be ready to return to the squad in match condition when called upon.

We wish both the players and clubs a successful period and look forward to seeing them back in the squad in the not so distant future.

For the first in a very long time, possibly ever, the Ives head east for a league fixture.

After the fantastic victory over Tamworth on Saturday, the Ives will be looking to build on that result on a Tuesday night visit to the Trawler Boys in the Evo-Stik South Premier Central Division.

On the squad front there are no injury concerns from Saturday plus Joe Hood and Danny Kelly are both available for selection after missing the weekend victory over Tamworth.

There is a coach available for tonight’s game leaving Westwood Road at 15:30. £10 per person.

Peterborough United defender Cartwright joins on loan

We are delighted to announce the signing of Sam Cartwright from Peterborough United FC.

Defender Cartwright who signed a three year professional contract in October of last year has signed on loan until January 1st 2019.

The young centre back who can also play as a right back has been a regular feature in the first team squad during pre season. With all paperwork now completed, he will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s season opener at home to Tamworth.

We welcome Tamworth to WWR tomorrow for the start the league campaign. It probably couldn’t be a tougher start as Tamworth were in the National Conference until 2014. However, another relegation sees The Ives meet The Lambs for the very first time.

Ives manager Ricky has been busy recruiting this summer and along with several new players, he has also recruited Craig ‘Bully’ Adams as his assistant from Biggleswade Town.

On the squad front. Jordan Patrick is ruled out through injury. Dylan Wilson faces a fitness test but hopeful he will be able to feature in the squad as he recovers from a groin injury.

George Bailey signs

We are pleased to announce the signing of George Bailey.

The young exciting attacker can operate as a centre forward or in an advanced midfield position. George, 20, spent last season at Biggleswade Town FC, scoring a hatrick on his debut against Farnborough back in October. George went on to average just under 1 goal in 2 games for the remainder of the season.

We would like to thank Biggleswade Town manager Lee Allison in helping with the smooth transition of the signing.

Midfielder Munashe signs

The club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Munashe Sundire.

After impressing during the first month of pre season, Sundire, 21 has now put pen to paper for the coming season.

The energetic hard working midfielder has previously had spells at Kempston Rovers, Chesham and Kettering Town.

Striker puts pen to paper

We are delighted to announce that Dylan Wilson has signed for the club.

18 year old Wilson who spent last season with Rushden and Higham United in the United Counties League hit over 35 goals in less than 40 games in his first season of men’s football.

Dylan has impressed during pre season hitting both goals in our first two pre season fixtures against Soham Town and Peterborough Sports in 45 minute appearances.

The youngster has a bright future ahead of him and both manager Ricky Marheineke and assistant manager Bully Adams are delighted to have him on board.

Welcome to the club Dylan and we wish you a successful season ahead.

2018/19 Southern League Central fixtures released

The Southern League have today released the fixtures for the 2018/19 season and we start the campaign on Sat August 11 with a home fixture against former Conference side Tamworth FC.

This is followed by a Tuesday night visit (14 August) to the Suffolk coast with an encounter against Lowestoft Town. We last visited Lowestoft in August 2008 for an FA Cup Extra Preliminary tie in which the home side were the victors with a 2-1 scoreline. We were both plying our trade at step 5 at the time.

We play Royston Town away on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August. The return fixture at WWR is on Boxing Day 26 December.

The battle of the Saints (St Ives v St Neots) will take place on New Years Day (away) and Easter Monday 22 April (home) respectively.

Mick George renew their sponsorship with the Ives

The club has managed to renew its partnership with local business Mick George Ltd, who for a fourth consecutive year will remain as sponsor to one of the stands at the WWR facilities, for which it played an integral part in creating the seated area that lines the playing pitch. In addition, the company will continue as the official Academy Partner.

Equally, Mick George Ltd will provide complementary waste services, taking care of all skip and bin collections generated on match-days, which will undoubtedly boost the clubs’ financial situation.

Behind the scenes, there are various projects ongoing to enhance the Saints playing and training facilities. Mick George Ltd has vowed to support those developments, most notably in the form of multiple service and material provisions which include; Soil to repair the pitch, gravel and ballast for the respective car-park and access route upgrades, as well as skips for disposing of Clubhouse debris.
