Match Preview & Squad Details – Biggleswade Town v St Ives Town

BIGGLESWADE TOWN FC v ST IVES TOWN FC

The Evo-Stik League South Premier Central – Saturday 5 January 3:00pm

With a 3rd clean sheet on the spin courtesy of a 1-0 victory at St Neots on New Years Day, the Ives travel to high flying Biggleswade Town.

Biggleswade Town currently sit in 4th place with 36 points from 22 games. They are also still in the FA Trophy and will visit Conference side AFC Fylde in the 2nd round next Saturday. They will no doubt be hoping that everyone comes though the game unscathed tomorrow so they can field their strongest possible side for their visit to Lancashire.

On the squad front, Robbie Parker will face a late fitness test. The rest of the squad is fit and available for selection. Ben Seymour-Shove is in line to make his 200th competitive appearance for the Ives.

The teams last met on 16 Oct 18 at WWR with the Waders winning 1-0.

After consecutive 0-0 draws at WWR the Ives make the short trip to old rivals St Neots Town

St Neots currently sit in 21st place with 17 points from 21 games. They also reached the 4th qualifying round of this seasons FA Cup.

On the squad front, Ollie Snaith returns after finishing his four game suspension and will be available for selection. Sam Cartwright will be assessed after limping off during Saturday’s game. Jarvis Wilson is still a doubt after missing our last two fixtures over the Christmas period. Dylan Wilson is set to miss the next few months after suffering a broken ankle in Saturday’s fixture at home to Lowerstoft Town. We all wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back playing soon.

The two sides last met each other at Rowley Park on 5 April 2018 with the home side running out 3-1 winners.

The Ives are at home again just 3 days after the 0-0 Boxing Day draw against Royston Town.

On the squad front, Ollie Snaith will miss out, serving his final game of a four match suspension. Jarvis Wilson is again doubtful after missing the game against Royston following a dead leg injury picked up at Tamworth. Robbie Parker and Owen Wallis will both be assessed after limping off in the Boxing Day fixture with a knee and hamstring injury respectively. Some good news, Joe Hood returns and is available for selection.

On the squad front – Joe Hood is unavailable. Dylan Wilson returns to the squad after a valuable dual registration period with Rushden and Higham where he gained some minutes and scoring 4 in 3 games. there are no other injury concerns following Wednesday fixture at Hitchin.

Sunday Round Up – 16 Dec

The Ladies 1st team head in to 2019 unbeaten in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division 1 with a 2-1 victory at Newmarket Town Ladies. The goals came from Tierney Coulson (penalty) & Hannah Seymour-Shove. Goalkeeper Kira Markwell was awarded ‘Player of the Match’.

Saturday 8 December

The Ives won another dramatic encounter at WWR as they scored a late late winner to overcome Bedworth United 2-1.

Sunday 9 December

The Ladies 1st team kept up their unbeaten record in the league with a 3-0 victory at home to Histon LFC. Katie Stancombe grabbed a brace and Tierney Coulson got the other and was awarded ‘Player of the Match’.

The Ladies Development side went out of the Cambs Invitational Junior Cup with a narrow 1-2 defeat at the hands of higher league opposition March Town United Ladies.

The U16s exited Hunts County Cup at the quarter final stage with a slim 1-2 defeat at Godmanchester Town.

The U15s progressed to the next round of the EJA league challenge cup with a superb all round team performance beating a skilful and powerful Norseman side 3-1. The goals came from Reece & Jack.

The U14s lost 1-7 Needham market in the Treasurers Cup.

The U13s advanced to the semi final of the Hunts County Cup with a 2-0 victory at Godmanchester Town.

The Ives stunned league leaders Kettering Town with a convincing and well earned 3-0 victory at Latimer Park.

Sunday 2 December

In a 2nd v 3rd contest in the ERWFL Div the Ladies 1st team drew 0-0 away at Bowers & Pitsea in what was described as a fantastic advert for Women’s football. Both sides had chances, however neither could find the net.

The U16s Hunts County Cup game at Godmanchester Town was postponed.

The U15s slipped to a 0-1 defeat at home to AFC Sudbury in the EJA Green division.

The U14’s went agonisingly close to chalking up their first league points of the season, however they slipped to a narrow 3-4 defeat at Newmarket Town.

The U13s registered a very convincing 12-2 scoreline away at Allenburys Youth in the Meads Cup 2nd round.

The Ives head in to this game against current leaders Kettering having taken a much needed 4 points from the last two games.

The Poppies drew 4-4 at home to Redditch United on Tuesday evening having come from being behind twice to lead 4-3 before conceding a late equaliser in the 6th minute of added time. Click here for Kettering’s fixtures & results.

On the squad front – Charlie De’Ath returns to the squad. New signing Ty Ward (midfielder) will be involved after making the move from conference South side Hemel Hempstead. Jake Newman is suspended after his sending off against Banbury United last Saturday.

The Ladies 1st team maintained their unbeaten record in the ERWFL Division1 with an 8-0 victory at WWR over Bishops Stortford Ladies. The goal scorers were Tierney Coulson x4, Emily Smith x2, Georgia Stancombe & Katie Stancombe.

The Ladies Development team won 3-2 (after extra time) against rivals Haverhill Rovers Ladies in the Cambs Division 1 Cup. Emilee Steel scored 2 and Penelope Ford scored the other.

The U16 played well at Biggleswade Town in the EJA Green Division, however they ultimately lost 1-2. Mykov scored the Ives goal.

The U15 won 4-1 at home to Newmarket Town to move to the top of the EJA Green division. Manager Brett Fairholm said of the performance “A great all round team display and a great game to watch.”

Sunday 18 November

The Ladies 1st team Invitational Cup game at home to Peterborough ICA Sports was called off late on as their opponents were unable to raise a team. The Cambs FA have awarded the tie as a home win and the Ladies advance to the next round.

The Ladies Development side were rampant in the morning kick off as they hit double figures with a 10-1 victory at 3rd place Cambridge Rangers to keep them level with Haverhill Rovers at the top of the Cambs Championship South. The goals came from Fran Chapman x4, Megan Stow x3, Jade Carpenter x2 & Connie Hornibrook.

In the EJA League Brown Division the U16 lost 1-4 in a local derby at Godmanchester Town.

The U15 enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Needham Market in the EJA Green Division.

The U14 were beaten by Bury Town in the EJA Brown Division.

The U13 kept their unbeaten record in the Royston Crow League with a 1-1 draw at Plantation Youth.

Striker signs for the Ives

The club are delighted to announce the signing of centre forward Jake Newman.

Goal scorer Newman, 27, joins from Peterborough Sports where he has scored 5 goals this season.

Jake joined Sports in the summer following a very successful season at Kempston Rovers where he hit 35 goals with 24 coming in the league and 11 in cup competitions.

Please join me in welcoming Jake to the club and we all hope your time with us is as successful as with your previous clubs.

Sunday 11 November

The Ladies 1st team had a convincing 9-0 victory over lower league Riverside Ladies in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitational Cup. The goals came from Hannah Seymour-Shove x3, Francesca Worrall x3, Jade Carpenter, Stephanie Ransome & Emily Smith.

The Ladies will now play Peterborough ICA Ladies in the 2nd round scheduled for next Sunday 18 November.

The U16s produced a superb performance today including goal of the season from Riley Barratt. Ben Smith grabbed the other goal to beat Takeley 2-0 in the EJA Brown Division.

The U15s lost 1-3 at Haverhill Rovers in the EJA Green Division.

The U14s Challenge Cup game at Grays Athletic was postponed for the second time.
