U18 Team Progress Report

Season update

This season, we plan to bring you regular updates on the youth squad. The first installment provides some comments from the U18 coaching team which highlight a brief insight into the pre-season activities so far…

Steve Small, U18 manager, spoke to the website today about the progress to date of the latest crop of young players currently vying for a place in the Saints youth squad for the 2014/15 season.

“We are in our fourth week of pre-season and things have been going well. For the first two open sessions we had over 24 players. Darnell and I are pleased to welcome Darren Marjoram into the club as youth coach and are sure his tremendous knowledge and enthusiasm will be a huge benefit to us. We have already played Dave Williams’ Elsworth mens side and Mildenhall Youth and drew 2-2 and 4-4 respectively. Both very pleasing results as we put out very experimental sides. Next Wednesday we entertain Huntingdon at Westwood Rd, 7.30 KO and entry is free.

The website also received an update from the Darren Marjoram after the Mildenhall game …

“Good game tonight against Mildenhall. It finished 4-4 after St Ives being 3-1 down at half time. A good performance in the second half, and as we haven’t done any defensive work yet in training, I’m happy!.
Darren Marjoram”

We are all very excited about the season ahead for the youth team, it certainly looks to be a promising one. Watch out for regular U18 updates on the website, facebook and Twitter.
