We welcome ‘The Brook’ to Westwood Road for this Division 1 Central League match. AFC Hayes was originally formed as a pub team back in 1974 with the name Brook House FC (named after the pub). The club was renamed to AFC Hayes only as recently as 2007 keeping the nickname “The Brook” as a reminder of their roots.
Hayes have had a torrid time in recent weeks, with respect to results at least. Their last victory on Oct 4th away to Aylesbury. More recently, they suffered an unfortunate 1-0 defeat to Marlow conceding a very late penalty after showing a gutsy performance, proving there is plenty of fight in the team, so ‘The Ives’ will need to be on their guard.
Without a game last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch, the Saints have had time to reflect further on their memorable win over 2nd place Hanwell Town the previous Saturday. This followed a number of positive outings in recent weeks, now having clocked up NINE points from four successive games. ‘The Saints’ will be looking to capitalise on the home advantage and hope to bag another 3 points.
