Match Report – West Wratting Youth U13 0 St Ives Town U13 6

West Wratting Youth 0 St Ives Town 6

Cambridge & District Colts League U13A Division – 25 Feb 2018

After a couple weeks off after half term we knew that the first ten to fifteen minutes would be hard to get going. We made a few chances but nothing special and the game just seemed to be played in the middle of the pitch. We made a couple of changes on the wings and we started to open Wratting up and we missed two in front of goal. Then from a shot out side the box the ball bounced off the goalkeepers chest and Alfie was there to pop the ball home.

We started the second half with more determination to do better in the final third and within a minute the ball was in the back of the Wratting net after wicked deflection off a Wratting player. We then seemed to settle down and relax. The movement and passing that we played really stretched Wratting and gave space for Dan L to hit a thirty yard thunder bolt into the top corner. We simply carried on keeping the ball and moving and two minutes later Louis. R placed a ball from twenty yard into the left hand corner. With ten minutes to go we swapped the front pair and straight away Harry banged the ball in the back of the net from a cross from the right. Then with the same type of cross again this time from the left allowed Gino to smash in on the volley.

We really looked good today control from the team from back to front was fantastic. Great to have a full team to select from.

Goalscorers -:

Man of the match – Daniel Legg. Great finishing and enthusiasm for the game.

This was probably our best pass and movement display so far this season. We asked the players to keep to their job roles and responsibilities and they all did. A great clean sheet for our defensive line who controlled the game from start to finish.

Good luck to West Wratting for the rest of the season .
