Match Report – St Ives Town U13 14 Burwell Swallows U13 1

St Ives Town 14 Burwell Swallows 1

Cambridgeshire & District Colts League U13A Division – 11 March 18

The lads really put on a dynamic performance today from start to finish and the measure was how we would defend our goal and how the defence could move the ball quick into the next third of the pitch. The ball was won in midfield due to the ability to have three at the back. We have learnt to stretch the play with use of the wings. The goals were all built from passing and movement, making space for some spectacular goals.  Alfie Baker, both of Louis Roswell’s and Louis Gill  scored with great twenty yard finishes.

I would also like to say well done to the team. We played 2 different formations today and every player adapted to the game. If the boys continue to focus on their play and give themselves the belief to carry on  we can be contenders for the league. To the parents and supporters thanks again for your support. The boys really played well and gave us a great Mothers Day treat.

There was not just one team in this. Burwell to their credit played well and never gave up. To Kenny and his team at Burwell, good luck for the rest of the season .

These three lads at the back were superb in defensive decision making and really moved the ball well for our midfield and attackers to find space. I congratulate them for working hard as a unit and focusing for the whole game.
