Match Report – St Ives Town U13 5 Panthers U13 0

St Ives Town 5 Panthers 0

Cambridgeshire & District Colts League U13A Division – 15 April 18

After two weeks off for Easter, we really needed to get up and going today against a Panthers side that have been getting results of late. In the first fifteen minutes we put them under pressure and some really good chances passed us by from great goalkeeping and poor finishing. However, we stuck at it and kept switching the ball. Daniel Legg moved down the left and floated the ball across the box to see Luke Annis smash the ball on the half volley at the keeper who parried it back to him and he smashed the ball in the back of the net. That seemed to settle us down. We had a few more chances, however the Panthers had some as well and our Goalkeeper Luis made two world class saves at point blank range. With five minutes left before half time Alfie Baker smashed the ball into the bottom left hand corner to give us the 2 goal advantage we really deserved for all the work we had put in.

In the second half with a couple of changes and different tactics we really went out to take the Panthers to task. We started very brightly, began to move the ball quicker and once again Alfie Baker clipped the ball from 20 yards out and the ball was in the back of the net. Within 5 minutes Carlo Giove got in behind and slotted the ball past the keeper. Just make the day complete, his brother Gino courtesy of a cross from Luke Dunn put the ball in the bottom left hand corner to seal a 5-0 victory. It was a great performance from the lads today.
