2 wins for the Ladies. A loss and a draw for the Colts
St Ives Ladies continued their recent good form with an outstanding performance and 8-0 win over March Town in the League Cup quarter final on Sunday. Georgia Stancombe was one of the stars in an all round team performance, and got the game of to a good start for the hosts when she opened the scoring after beating her marker and slotting calmly past the March keeper. Not content with that, she went on to score her third hat trick of the season before half time, with a fantastic run and finish from Hannah Seymour-Shove in between those goals. March were no pushovers, and came out from half time with the desire to press the Saints quickly, but no matter what they tried the home side rose to the occasion and played around their opponents. Inevitably, St Ives continued to push forwards and added further goals in the second half from Georgia Stancombe, Hannah Seymour-Shove and Katherine Speed to end the game with a 8-0 victory and put themselves into the hat for the semi-finals. Such was the performance from every player, that the whole team was awarded Player of the Match to reflect the complete nature of the performance.
Darren Marjoram said
“This was a fantastic performance from the whole team, not just in terms of their skill and ability but also importantly in their work rate and approach to the game. The entire Ladies squad that we have at St Ives is an amazing group who really are like one big family, and I think that is reflected in the performances both teams have been putting in recently. Paul Swannell, who is the Club goalkeeping coach, has been working hard with our keepers over the last few weeks, and that has also seen us improve further. Probably most importantly of all, adding Lisa Trigg to the coaching staff has been a huge positive for us this season, and the future of St Ives Ladies looks very good indeed. “
