In the last couple of week’s there have been several arrivals and departures for the Saints.
Arriving at Westwood Road are:
Lee has played over 650 games at both Step 2 & 3 over a spell of 13 years at Cambridge City. The former Ipswich Town Professional adds vast experience as a central defender offering leadership as well as ability to the saints this term.
Liam joins us from Local Rivals Royston Town. The vocal central defender has enjoyed a spell at Royston Town following previously completing his Scholarship at Stevenage Town. His commanding presence and willingness to defend is what attracted him to manager Ricky Marheineke.
Buster is a real coop for Manager Ricky Marheineke, having previously captained Cambridge City last season the central midfield player has also previously had a spell at Soham Town Rangers. The versatile left footed player can also played wide and upfront.
Josh is a former Norwich City professional, who has also played for both Cambridge City & St Neots. The talented left footed wide player has showed his qualities for both clubs during his spells and will be a welcomed addition to the Ives.
Sam completed his two year scholarship with Cambridge United before being offered a two year pro deal. He was released at the end of that deal and moved to Corby Town where he enjoyed three seasons. Most recently he has been with Histon where he caught the eye of Manager Ricky Marheineke before agreeing to join for the 2016-17 season.
And returning Tom McGowan
The box to box midfielder originally with Northampton Town as a Scholar, joined Corby Town in 2011 and enjoyed a three year spell with the Steel Men before leaving for Brackley Town in the summer of 2014. That stay proved short lived however as he moved to Stamford in September of that year and went on to complete the season with The Daniels, scoring twice in their dramatic 3-2 win over Witton Albion on the final day of last season to secure the clubs’ Step 3 status. Tom was one of Ricky Marheineke’s first signings for the 2016-17 campaign.
Leaving Westwood Road are Luke Knight, Danny Watson and Phil Draycott. We would like to thank them for all they’ve done for the club and wish them all the best for the future.
