Ladies Team Announcement: We are today launching a new St Ives Town Ladies Development Team.

Following the success of St Ives Town FC Ladies since its launch, and after continued demand from players in the area, the Club are delighted to announce that we are creating a second Ladies team for season 2017/18.

The new team will be St Ives Town FC Ladies Development and has been created to allow more players to play competitively at the Club, and to also provide young and talented players in the area an opportunity to develop in the senior game. Having a second team will also allow a progression route for players into the Ladies first team. As part of the launch of our Development team we are also looking for players to further improve the First Team squad and help us achieve aim of promotion to the next level.

We are looking to recruit players 16+ for both teams for next season, and are inviting all interested players to contact the Club through Ladies First Team manager Darren Marjoram. Open training will take place every Friday, 7-8pm from 12/05/2017 right through the summer on the 3G pitch at St Ives One Leisure Outdoor Centre, California Road, St Ives. PE27 6SJ. If you are interested in joining St Ives Town FC Ladies, please contact Darren on darren.marjoram@ntlworld.com

With the expansion of the Ladies teams at St Ives Town FC, we are also inviting applications for an assistant coach to join the First team, and a head coach for the Development team. All applicants should be minimum FA Level 2 qualified, or working towards FA Level 2, with current Emergency Aid, Safeguarding and DBS. Chris George Local Man and Firefighter Fundraiser 5th November

Chris George, Local man and fundraiser for the firefighters charity 5th November 2016

I am one of few people nationwide, chosen by The Firefighters Charity to run the 2017 London marathon for them. This has nothing to do with my running ability – in fact, i have never attempted to run so far in my life – but because I sincerely believe in the fantastic service this charity provides.

The Firefighters Charity offers support and rehabilitation to firefighters and their families during times of injury, illness, stress and bereavement. The charity also offers its help to widows and widowers of firefighters.

All firefighters want to do is to help people, so when they find themselves unable to work for whatever reason it can become a challenging time both physically and mentally. this is where the charity steps in.

I have personally used the Firefighters Charity when I suffered a shoulder and back injury. After a significant time off work I began to feel useless and suffered mentally. The charity were absolutely fantastic and after a 2 week rehab programme at their centre in Cumbria I was soon back at work. I have seen many colleagues with a similar story since then.

None of us know when we may need the fire service, but rest assured, when you do, there are some brave and selfless men and women out there waiting to help you. It’s just that every now and then they need help too.

So help them to help you by donating to the amazing Firefighters Charity.

Information on the Fire Fighters Charity

We are the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families. Our vision is to make a positive difference by supporting people in the fire and rescue community when they are in need. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of thousands of individuals by providing world-class treatment and support services.

It costs over £9 million per year to keep the Charity running, and we are completely reliant upon donations and fundraising, so your support is very much needed.

The role of a firefighter is one of bravery, loyalty and devotion to public service. Just like firefighters, we are passionate about our work and the services we provide to the men and women who risk their lives to save ours.
